Crystal GearTop ^

Crystal gear is equipment designed to fight the Shadow, these come with bonuses to Light.

The introduction quest will lead you towards crafting your first Crystal weapon, and you can obtain more as you adventure through the world.

• Crystalline Blade
• Crystalline Spear
• Crystalline Bow
• Crystalline Claws
• Crystalline Pistol
• Crystalline Stave

Crystal gear comes in 3 levels. Unlike Shadow/Radiant/Stellar Levels you cannot upgrade Crystal Levels. You can, however, upgrade any Crystal Level to have more stars using Forge.

• Crystal Level 1 drops in Geode Topside U8, U9, U10,  can be purchased on Sunseeker's Crystalforge
• Crystal Level 2 drops in Geode Topside U9, U10
• Crystal Level 3 drops in Geode Topside U10

Crystal gear has 5 stats, with Light being a new mandatory second stat on it.

Light and DarknessTop ^

Light is a new stat that is found on Crystal gear and Cosmic Gems. Darkness exists exclusively on the enemies on Geode.

Light cannot be removed from items.

Without the Light stat, you'll find it virtually impossible to defeat enemies bathed in Darkness.

• 5000 Power Rank is required to access Geode Topside U8
• 100 Light and 10000 Power Rank is required to access Geode Topside U9
• 2125 Light and 15000 Power Rank is required for Geode Topside U10

It is reported that 5822 is the maximum Light you can obtain

Forging and MaterialsTop ^

To upgrade your Crystal gear you will need materials obtained from Mining and breaking down other Crystal gear.

Breaking down Crystal gear

Crystal gear can be loot collected into:

• Cosmic Gem Dust
• Forge Fragment

Stellar and Crystal gear return Pearl of Wisdom that are on them when deconstructed.

Mining

• Nitro-Glitterine

Adventuring

Defeating dungeon bosses will reward you with Lesser Geodian Topside Cache which will contain:

• Crystalline Core
  • This core in the hands of the Shaper could be morphed into an energy source powerful enough to act as the heart of an Ancient.
• Bound Brilliance

Upgrading Crystal Gear

Upgrade your Crystal Gear as you normally would using a Forge.

Crystalline Core, Forge Fragment and Nitro-Glitterine is used to upgrade the stars on items at the Forge from 0-5. It cannot be used to raise the Crystal Level.

Cosmic GemsTop ^

Cosmic Gems will be the primary way to boost your Light stat.

You will find 3 new slots for them in the Gems window of your character UI represented with a purple border, 2 Lesser Cosmic Gem slots and 1 Empowered Cosmic Gem Slot.

Slots Unlock at following levels:

• Empowered Cosmic Gem Socket - level 25
• Lesser Cosmic Gem Socket - level 27
• Lesser Cosmic Gem Socket - level 30

Lesser Cosmic Gems are found in Cosmic Gem Box. Cosmic gem boxes are obtained from defeating World Bosses, Lairs and Dungeons in Geode Topside.

• Uber-8 Cosmic Gem Box from Uber-8 difficulty 
• Uber-9 Cosmic Gem Box from Uber-9 difficulty 
• Uber-10 Cosmic Gem Box from Uber-10 difficulty 

Empowered Cosmic Gems can drop from existing Empowered Gem Box, Stellar Empowered Gem Box or Empowered Cosmic Gem Box that is crafted on Crystallogy Workbench.

Upgrading Cosmic Gems

Cosmic Gems are upgraded using Cosmic Gem Dust which is obtained by breaking down Cosmic Gems or Crystal Gear.

Empowered Cosmic Gem AbilitiesTop ^

There are some new abilities added with the Empowered Cosmic Gems.

Vampirian Vanquisher

Dealing a critical hit to enemies has a chance to increase movement speed and cause the next hit to leech health. 

Flower Power

Taking damage has a chance to spawn a blast flower, which will decay and explode, damaging nearby enemies. This gem has a cooldown.

Empyrean Barrier

Periodically applies a shield that reduces incoming damage. When the shield is destroyed it will explode, damaging nearby enemies. This gem has a cooldown.

Berserk Battler

Damaging enemies causes a frenzied state, adding a small increase to attack speed and Light. Continued damage to enemies extends the frenzied state until it causes a berserk state, greatly increasing attack speed and Light.

Do you mean the 'Forge a Crystalline Weapon' quest step? You should be able to craft any recipe on the [Sunseeker's Crystalforge] to progress your questline.

It was changed at some point after the initial Gearcrafting patch to 'Forge Crystal Gear' that points you to the Gearcrafting Forge instead, but its possible the platform you play on does not have this change yet.

Yeah I've got magic find in stat 4 on my weapon.

1300 wpn, 650x2 hat/face, 985x2 lessers, 1249 emp... 5819 is the max unbuffed, if using Berserk Battler emp ability it goes up to 6069/6569 depending on what stage the buff is at.

The upgrade costs changed from 20 nitro for all 5 upgrades on Crystal 1, to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 as you forge them up.
