Geode Companions
Companions are hatched from eggs found in Geode caves. They provide bonuses, can be upgraded and will follow you around in the caves. Outside of caves you can use Companions as Styles for your Ally.

Types
There are eight types of companions, each with common, uncommon and rare versions. Each companion type and rarity has different stats which can be unlocked by upgrading.
Eggs
Companions are hatched from Eggs obtained from Geode caves.
Howlug Egg - obtained during Geode Tutorial

Fresh Howlug
Bronze Companion Egg - obtained from tier 2-5 Geode caves or rare chance from
Lesser Crystal Cache - chance to hatch a common, uncommon or rare companion (24 possible)
- obtained from tier 2-5 Geode caves or rare chance from
Silver Companion Egg - obtained from tier 3-5 Geode caves
- chance to hatch a uncommon or rare companion (16 possible)
Gold Companion Egg - obtained from tier 5 Geode caves
- hatches a rare companion (8 possible)
There is also a rare chance to receive eggs from assisting critters in Geode caves.
The chance to receive a rare reward from hatching eggs is increased with a 
Lodestar which can be crafted at the 
Crystallogy Workbench.
Upgrade Costs
Upgrading your companion unlocks additional bonuses, unique to that companion.
The cost to upgrade a companion is determined by the companion itself, and varies on two materials. We've grouped these into the three cave types by companion.

- Lowers the cooldown time of your Thumper in the caves of Geode

- Lowers the cooldown of the Pathpainter module
- Climbing Claw Range
- Increases the range of the Climbing Claw module
- Thumper N-Charge Cost
- Lowers the energy costs of the N-Charge module
- Barrier N-Charge Gain
- Increases the energy gain when the Barrier is active in the caves of Geode
- Omni Tool Power
- Increases the strength of your Omni Tool (mining) in the the caves of Geode
- Rocket Boot Acceleration
- Increases the acceleration speed of the Rocket Boot module - with this you will reach the maximum speed faster
- Rocket Boot N-Charge Cost
- Lowers the energy cost of the Rocket Boot module in the caves of Geode
- N-Charge Regen
- Increases the amount of energy you regain in the caves of Geode

Workbenches
Companions are hatched, upgraded and re-homed using the following workbenches.
Egg Incubator
The 
Egg Incubator is a bench which you use to hatch your companion eggs. It is located at the Companion Ranch in the Geode Hub.
- Use Lodestar to increase the chance for a better rarity of companion hatched.
- Use
Accelerite to speed up the hatching process. - Use
Space Expander to unlock additional incubator slots.
Forever Home Finder
The 
Forever Home Finder is where you can send companions you don't need to another home. It is located at the Companion Ranch in the Geode Hub and works like a 
Loot Collector.
Companion Trainer
The 
Companion Trainer is used to level up your companions, to unlock additional bonuses. It is located at the Companion Ranch in the Geode Hub.
- Upgrade your companion using various Geode resources and Bond Crystalizer which is crafted at the [item=Crystology Workbench].
