@ShadowWalker271

Im sorry, i still have the same answer as before - Approved creations are not guaranteed to get in game, we only can do our best to make them as unique and attractive as possible so Developers would pick them to be included.

The demand for Sword styles is pretty low as im sure i mentioned in the very beginning. If you really want to get something in game it might be more fruitful to make more creations rather than wait for one sword to get Accepted.

There is a Creation Contest running during the whole March - create a Cake dungeon room for the upcoming Sunfest event - check it out, may be you would like to participate https://trovesaurus.com/page=5256

@Ylva

Hey again, Ylva! It's been a while! I was wondering if the Vine Cutlass will ever finally be Accepted.

@ShadowWalker271

From what it looks like, we get creations accepted every half a year. Last wave was about 2 months ago if im not mistaken.

After a creation passes the moderation (meaning me or FutureHero approving it) it is up to Developers to chose and include something in game.

Approved creations are not guaranteed to get in game, we only can do our best to make it as unique and attractive as possible so Developers would pick it to be included.

So Ylva? When do you think the Vine Cutlass will be accepted? It's literally been 2 months since you approved it!

Thank you for approving me and thanks for the tip for when I make something next time! I hope you are having a good day! :D

Hello again :)

Thanks for fixing those maps, it seems to be working properly now.

I think this sword has reached its best possible appearance, im going to approve it.

Few points to keep in mind if you were to upload something new:

- Please always add at least one in-game screenshot of an appropriate class using the creation. Im pretty sure i mentioned that before, but i would rather not send creations back to Active for such things, so i ve uploaded one for you this time.

- We also require a blueprint of the creation uploaded to Files tab (next to home, edit etc) so Devs could easily download, check and put creations in game. Blueprint should be named styletype_stylename[CreatorsName].blueprint to match the naming pattern of in-game files. In your case that would be sword_vine_cutlass[KrisWitherstorm].blueprint . Again, this time i ve uploaded a blueprint for you, made from your latest Troxel link files, but it saves me time if creators do this by themselves :)

This sword went a really long way, good job!

Alright. I fixed it by making it a rough glowing glass material. I looked up what it looked like and glowing glass looks more like a gem, so it might work.

@KrisWitherstorm

Im sorry, i assumed you have an understanding about material maps since you used them on your sword >_< I dont do tutorials over discord voice, but i will try my best to explain it right here :)

This is your current design, with:

sword.qb - having a base model of shape and color
sword_t.qb - Type map - that marks voxels that will Glow with bright Red
sword_s.qb - Specular map - that marks voxels that will shine like metal (Green) and be reflective like a pearl (Yellow)

On that gem you are using both Glowing and Iridescent mapping (marked with an arrow) - this is essentially telling the game that it needs to make those two blocks reflective AND glowing at the same time. This is not something that Trove can display - it can only do EITHER Glowing (or any other Type mapping) OR Iridescent (or any other Specular mapping).

If that voxel is mapped Glowing on Type map - it can only use default (dark red) material on the Specular map.

If that voxel is mapped Iridescent on Specular map - it can only use default (white) material on the Type map.

So a set of material maps that would properly work in game would look like this:

In game they look like this (top with glowing gem, bottom with reflective gem), you barely can see the Iridescent mapping on such a small scale so i would suggest to go with Glowing.

Hope it makes more sense now!

@Ylva

Thanks for letting me know. However, I also didn't understand ANYTHING about the material stuff and I have no idea how to put my sword on the class models. Perhaps you could give me a bit of a tutorial over Discord?

Long time no see :) Hello!

This new sword design looks so much better than previous versions, good job! I really like shading on the blade and the way those vines look.  There are probably some swords that share same old-relic feeling to them, but i dont think we have any sword that looks exactly like this design.

That said, it might be possible to add some more details to it to make it stand out more, but is pretty good as is.

One thing that would need to be fixed before i could approve it - it seems like you have overlapping Material Maps on the gem. It is mapped Glowing (red) on Type map and Iridescent (yellow) on Specular map. Game engine does not handle map mixing, so there is no such thing as glowing metal or transparent waxy blocks etc. I am aware that visual guide on wiki is misleading, but unfortunately that is not something i can update.

If you are using any sort of Type mapping - those colored blocks can only be Rough on Specular Map. The other way around is also true - if you have blocks mapped Metal, Iridescent, Waxy or Water on Specular map - they can only be white on Type. Hope this makes sense. You can check map overlaps with Troxel Lint and Export, i might have mentioned that before.

I think this sword needs just one last push :)

Please dont forget to include an in-game screenshot of a correct class (knight, ninja, candybarbarian or boomranger) wielding the sword next time you send it to review!

That's right! I'm back! And I decided to change the Vine Cutlass completely!

Hello again!

I appreciate the efforts and determination you are putting into this project!

Unfortunately we are back to square one with this current design. Here is an in-game sword that looks very similar to yours: Steve Skillet's Knife. There are likely more.

Have you considered creating a spear or staff instead of a melee?

@Ylva

I decided to change the weapon type and the area it's from completely to a beautiful Vine Cutlass!

Hello again!

The hammer sure does look different now, good use of material maps! Still missing that 'wow' factor that i tried to explain on previous review.

Here are some ice hammer/axe styles that are already available for players in game. Each of them has refined looks and is quite different from the others in shape/idea.

That green and soft blue on the pommel make it feel more like a summer design rather than frost. It might help if you try using biome colors, for Permafrost you can find them here > https://trovesaurus.com/biome=13/permafrost/modinfo , if you scroll down a bit.

@Ylva

I am using ice now

Hello again!

This definitely is going in right direction. Hammer looks so much better than swords, good job!

I believe we only have one shadow-themed hammer, Void Pounder, and your design does look different from that so we can check the 'uniqueness' off the list :)

There is still the 'wow' factor that needs to be present in some way though. Im not opposed to simplistic designs and they surely can have certain charm to them but i think in this case it would be easier to attract attention and promote the 'we need this in game' vibe if the hammer had more elaborate shape or referenced something specific out of Shadow realm. Could try a bit more colors than pitch black, grey and purple.

Also please dont forget to include an in-game screenshot of an appropriate class wielding the weapon next time :)

Changing status to Active for now.

Shadow Warhammer status has been set to Needs Review

@Ylva

Ok so I will switch to making a Shadow Warhammer

Shadow Sabre status has been set to Active

The sword surely is getting more and more correct from technical side, but please dont forget about appearance of the design.

Like i said on first review:

There are over 900 various melee designs in game so every sword that can get approved now must have a unique design and stunning appearances. It can be easier to go for hammer/blunt designs and/or pick a biome that does not have all too many melee styles available.

Here are some shadow-themed swords with dark blades that are already available for players in Trove: Sharpened Shadow Shard, Shadowcaster's Sword, Shadow-Cast Cutlass, Dark Thoughts, Cobra's Kiss, Foreboding Blade.

You can find all the swords in our database > https://trovesaurus.com/styles/Melee%20Weapon.

There is much less variety in other style categories so i am only allowed to approve swords that are beautiful, unique and have a 'wow' or at least 'oh my' effect. Otherwise it makes very little sense to keep adding similar Sword styles while neglecting other style types.

I appreciate your dedication, but please make sure that your efforts are focused on making something new that players would be exited to use rather than offering yet another variation of same idea.

@Ylva

BEHOLD! I figured out how to fix everything thanks to the lint & export button. Now every problem is fixed! I even made the blade more shadow like and made the purple gems glow!

Shadow Sabre status has been set to Active

Right, i see its rotated but that was not the only issue.

If you click on Lint and Export button in Troxel you will see following:

Voxels around the handle and Too dark voxels need to be fixed, Material maps are optional.

There is also a matter of design itself. Game has over 900 various melee weapons so all new ones do need to have some sort of 'wow!' to them.

Please fix issues and include an in-game preview screenshot of your creation before sending it for review again.

@Ylva

I rotated it so now the problem is fixed! I also moved the AP.

Hello again.

Like i said last time, please check out and follow guidelines for Melee weapons, they can be found here > https://trove.fandom.com/wiki/Melee_Creation_Guide

There is also a very helpful button in Troxel - Lint and Export. Open your model in there, on the right panel find Trove Creations and chose type - Melee. Click the button and it will highlight all the technical issues it can find.

Please be sure to do that before you set this one to Review again. Currently your sword looks like this in game and thus i absolutely can not approve it, im sorry.

@Ylva

I made the blade a little bigger so it fits better and added the AP inside the end of the handle.

Shadow Sabre status has been set to Needs Review

Shadow Sabre status has been set to Active

Hello!

The sword looks fine :) I like how elegant its design is. However, with Trove Creations you need to be sure to follow the rules. You can find guidelines for swords here: https://trove.fandom.com/wiki/Melee_Creation_Guide

To highlight some most important moments:

- every style must have an Attachment Point - pink voxel that tells the game where to place your model.

- every model must face its correct direction and must fit within bounding box - maximal possible dimensions. If the model exceeds those dimensions it will likely get in the way of character movement or combat animations.

- there are over 900 various melee designs in game so every sword that can get approved now must have a unique design and stunning appearances. It can be easier to go for hammer/blunt designs and/or pick a biome that does not have all too many melee styles available.

I am going to change the status of your creation to Active for now, change it back to Needs Review if you upload changes. If you d rather create something completely different, set this one to Draft, that will hide it from the list and free up a creation slot.

In any case, good luck!
