its based on how many times you can proc lust box's not the amount of boxes you can recieve; you can proc a lust box drop 3 times so its just counting down the amount of times you have left for that day.
probably set that way since the exact number of boxes changes if the person has patron or doesnt however the same number of times they can recieve box drops doesnt

for me it says "Gem boxes remaining 3/3", because I have not gotten a drop yet. Once I get a drop it will say 2/3.

yeah with patron you just get an extra 1 each time you get a box, but it still counts as 1 drop

Yes this has been a thing ever since last event I think. It shows incorrect number of boxes.
