Staff looking great, i really like the shadow color pattern :)
As for the shape, dont you think that bottom jaw looks tiny bit dislocated? Id also suggest to make a skull-shaft connection a bit more solid. It might also be good to add a slight tilt of color to the top of the skull, a very soft shading. I made a quick edit just to show what i mean.
Another thing, from the first glance your model could look like a short sword because of the blade-shaped flame, may be add some more wiggle and volume to it (less flat).
Going to set it back to Active while you work on it a bit more.
