This little guide is a short introduction into PvP.
Hello guys! First of all, thanks for choosing my guide to follow.
This guide should explain the current PvP system, but also explains how Capture the Flag (in this guide, I will shorten it to CTF) works.
How to join:
With the recent patch, the hub was slightly modified. It now has a giant cube with a sword on it. This is what we call the PvP hub (atleast what I call it). In it, there's a new portal with a skull on it. It should look like this:
After pressing E, you will join an arena, where the battle will begin.
Basics of CTF:
The basics of CTF are the following:
- Capture the enemies flag
- Prevent the enemy team from capturing your teams' flag
However, Trove slightly modified it. There's a third flag called Flag of Strife, which is neutral.
Another difference to good ol' CTF à la Unreal Tournament is the availability of power ups! What these power ups are, I will explain in the next section.
Power ups:
There are currently 4 power ups in the game:
Power up | Function |
Juggernaut | Makes you invincible for a few seconds, while slowing you |
Speed Booster | Vastly increases your movement speed |
Health Potion I | Drinks a health potion, restoring 50% of your health |
Health Potion II | Drinks a health potion, restoring 30% of your health |
Power up cubes look like this:
Capturing a flag:
Capturing a flag? Why a point just for that? lol
Capturing the enemies flag is not as easy as it sounds. While you are in charge of the flag, you can't dodge or use any ability that would increase your mobility (like the backflip from Neon Ninja or the spear from Lunar Lancer). Also, you get tagged, meaning that you provide a vertical light beam, which can be seen from anywhere, which is in the color of the flag you captured.
When you are at your base, you have to bring your flag to your flag portal, which looks like this:
Your team gets one point for each flag captured.
Tips:
- Offensive: Play a class with a high mobility like the Lunar Lancer or the Neon Ninja
- Defensive: Play the Candy Barbarian, the Revenant or any class with a high burst damage (like Fae)
- Mixed: At the moment, the Boomeranger is a mixture of both. Although it hasn't as much mobility as the other offensive classes, he's still good for both offense and defense
- Jump while you run! This will make it harder for your enemies to hit you
- If you have any CC (crowd control; stuns, slows, taunts), use it.
- Use your power ups wisely
That should it be for now! If there's something I missed, please comment on this or send me a message.
