Welcome to Trove! This guide will help you through the new player tutorial and introduce you to the basic elements of the game.

If you are an older character you can visit the tutorial by using the /tutorial command.

Greetings, Trovian!Top ^

Upon logging in, you'll find yourself in the ruins of the Temple of the Sky Goddess. Your task is to reach the top of the tower, seen off in the distance.

Before you begin your adventure, you may want to take a second and customize your character's appearance. Immediately to your right is a Barbershop. Move closer and press [E] to use it. Adventuring is meaningless if you don't look good doing it!

When your makeover is complete, turn back to your left. The path to the tower is pretty clear: follow the white-and-gold road. Along the way, you'll find blue Lore Cubes, which offer tidbits of the game's lore, and green-and-yellow Tutorial signs, which provide tips on how to play. To speed things up, press [Z] to get on your mount. The starter mount, Slow Sebastian, lives up to his name, but he's still quicker than walking on foot. It won't be long before you can obtain a faster mount.

The road will quickly lead you to a wall. You can leap over it by using [Space Bar] to jump. To make it easier to climb, you can also place some blocks of your own. Hit [Tab] to enter Building Mode, which will make your character transparent. You'll have 30 Primal Green blocks already in your inventor, visible in slot 1 of your action bar at the bottom of the screen. [Left click] to place them. You can break and collect blocks with your laser using [Right click], although some places are indestructible.

Continue to follow the road as it winds around the outside of the base of the tower. You'll reach a pool of lava. Run through! It'll hurt, but luckily, every character starts with 10 Elysian Flasks. Press [Q] to use one, which will restore 50% of your maximum health. You can refill your flasks and your HP at the Rejuvenation Station to your left, once you've crossed the lava.

From this point, make your way up to the top of the tower. You won't encounter anything you haven't already seen before, just some more jumping, building, and lore reading. At the top, there'll be another Barbershop to use if you want to make sure you'll looking fine for the next part of your journey. When you're ready, use the Hub Portal to enter the Prime Realm.

Welcome to the Hub!Top ^

Through the portal, you'll find yourself in the Hub. The Hub, as its name implies, is the center of the Trove community in-game. There's plenty to explore here, but let's focus on finishing the tutorial first. You want to find the Adventure Tower, which should be straight ahead. There'll be a green Novice Adventure portal at the top of the first set of stairs. Use it to enter a Novice adventure world.

Adventure worlds are where you'll travel across different biomes, explore dungeons and lairs, fight monsters, and gather resources. But for now, you're just looking for a Cornerstone plot, which you can claim to build your Cornerstone. Cornerstones are like mini customizable bases of operation that you can place in certain parts of the adventure world. They're dark grey squares with a sign with a question mark posted in front. When you find one, press Where is it? to claim it and instantly build the default Cornerstone layout.

Take a look around your Cornerstone. There's a vein of Shapestone to mine (using [Right-click]), a Rejuvenation Station to refill your health and flasks, a crafting table where you can create items and objects that will allow you to advance further in the game, and a class changer that gives you the ability to switch to different classes once they've been unlocked. You can modify and change your Cornerstone as much as you want by placing and breaking blocks. Progress is saved automatically.

That's the end of the new player tutorial. You've learned about the basic elements of the game, now it's time to go out, adventure, explore, collect, and build! Trove is a free-form, sandbox game, so there's no set way to play. If you're having trouble with something or need an answer, visit our guides section for help.

Good luck, Trovian!
