Twitch.tv Stream Recaps [Top]

These livestream recaps are aimed at collating all and only the information directly relevant to player-made Trove creations.

This past week saw the regular weekly Trove stream on Friday, 9/4.

Trove Livestream (9/4 stream archived here)

  • New tech work on the Lunar Lancer head means that the ears and nose will be a permanent look for this class - masks and hats/helms will have these features stick out through them (but without Z-fighting).
  • Some PVP details were hinted at - the hope is to be able to make and design maps in-game that will be transformed into battle arenas in club world.

Top Player Made Creations with Interviews - Week of 8/30-9/5 [Top]

As ranked by Reddit users, the following posts are the top rated creations from this past week here to give you a slice of the player-made creations from this past week. **(There is no guarantee that any of these items will be accepted in-game nor should their inclusion be understood as any type of endorsement. They are selected solely based upon their ratings by Reddit users.)

Player creator Velorager (IGN: Kukui) offered the top-rated [Dungeon] Undead Ziggurat. See the full post here.

What was your inspiration for this item?

My inspiration came from the many years I played WoW. Naxxramas was an amazing raid. The dungeon started off as a version of Naxxramas for Trove, but quickly turned into it's own thing. However, parts of it can still be seen, like the four skulls on the outside.

What was your biggest challenge in creating this item?

My biggest challenge was working on the ground. Trying to make it feel as natural as possible. To do that, I used some buildings that are currently in the Undead Hills biome as filler.

Also trying to find the right prefab files for the deco items was a job of its own. Since the change to the files, they are much harder to find.

What words of inspiration do you have for other player creators out there?

Don't give up. I see a lot of creations that could have been awesome that are closed because one or more people tell them it's bad.

It's good to listen to feedback from players, but decide for yourself what you want to change. I have had many items added, including a Dungeon, that got many negative comments, but I see people using them all the time, and hear that people enjoy my creations as a whole.

If you don't know how to do something, ask. Most of us don't bite, and are willing to at least send you to the right spot to find the info you need.

Work hard. The best creations are ones that you put time and effort into.

Player creator Saxh (IGN: Saxh) offered the top-rated [Lair] Turtle Shell. See the full post here.

What was your inspiration for this item?

I created a flying turtle temple in my club so I realized that turtles have a good shape for a lair.

What was your biggest challenge in creating this item?

I have created a lair, but it didn't get acepted so I got a little frustrated for that. But at least it was a good first experience creating it.

What words of inspiration do you have for other player creators out there?

If you have an idea for a item or a dungeon it can get criticized by a lot of people, but that is good, it is part of the creation process, so don't get upset for that and use those comments to improve.

Player creator Potrock_Ster offered the top-rated [Spear] Energy Saw. See the full post here.

Player creator Jimbolul (IGN: Jimbolul) offered the top-rated [Spear] Warglaive. See the full post here.

What was your inspiration for this item?

Browsing Google for images of medieval spear-like weapons. The glaive came up and I decided to 'recreate' it.

What was your biggest challenge in creating this item?

Keeping it simple and natural. My creations up to this point have always been more 'creative', combining elements like dragon skulls with blades and what-not. This time I wanted it to look a bit more easy on the eye. The main 'trick' here, I suppose, was to rely more on shading than shaping.

What words of inspiration do you have for other player creators out there?

Sometimes creativity hides in subtlety.

A tip when creating in voxel-format: try squinting every once in a while; it allows you to see the bigger picture more clearly.

Player creator echo_link (IGN: Echolink) offered the top-rated [Spear] Enercore. See the full post here.

What was your inspiration for this item?

This item design was inspired by the functionality of the upcoming lunar lancer Ultimate skill (Blessing of the Moon). When I saw the preview on the Trove Dev stream they mentioned that a large spear will fall from the sky, damage in a large AoE, and "BUFF" allies. I thought, "owh.. so it should look great on the vertical pose and it also should look like a source of power (cause it buffs people)" and so I tried to create it into an Enercore Spear from Neon City

What was your biggest challenge in creating this item?

My biggest challenge was to match what I wanted to create in my design to Trove team rules on spear creation. My first submitted design didn't fit initially in the guidelines

cause its more close to what i want to make than the second but other friendly /TrovianCreation subreddit member point out about the guidelines so i try to do a bit of rework to match it. but i believe the guidelines from the Trove Dev team are made with thorough consideration on how it looks on game.

What words of inspiration do you have for other player creators out there?

Gotta love it before you make it

Happy designing!

Reader Survey [Top]

Last weeks poll asked about whether the credit rewards for creations should be adjusted. The respondants (41 total) were largely split between keeping the reward levels the same (16 votes) and increasing them significantly (15 votes).

This week's poll asks about what biome is your go-to for design: "Which biome do you find it easiest to design for?"
