This started out as an 'FYI we're going to limit community chests' post, which then required context, so hey - now it's about a bunch of upcoming stuff. Obviously this isn't all we're working on, but I wanted to give some insight into some areas we hadn't really talked about yet.

Inventory and Collections

Overall inventory is a pretty poor place to manage collections. It works for some things (like rare bears) but for other things (like equipment visuals) it can get pretty cluttered. We're going to make it so you can collect and 'learn' equipment visuals and then use those visuals to transform the look of your equipment. We're also strongly considering making it so you collect mounts and probably in some way pets in a place outside of the inventory. Like equipment and recipes, non-learned versions are tradable, but if you're a collector it's not going to clutter your inventory over time. On top of this community chests aren't really an ideal way to get a lot of storage (no guarantee other players can't get access). We're going to make them one per world (all in a world link up), we're also going to add more personal chests and we're going to add a version of the community chest for people with world editing permissions. We're going to try to do this after those other changes so we can alleviate inventory pressure first and then go ahead and make those changes.

Uber Adventuring Progression

As we discussed a few weeks ago, we're relatively unhappy with the amount of luck involved with progressing in Ubers. The plan is that there is a shadow arena you can get to by using a shadow key. Completing the arena event (a big assault quest) gets you a guaranteed resplendent or shadow drop along with a high chance for a recipe and a chance at some other unique rare loot. Keys are crafted by 'key shards' which come from lairs and 'key gems' which come from dungeons. We'll also be working with community creators to come up with a better set of rules for dungeon creation (and updating the boss quest to require doing some other stuff in the dungeon). Finally, the later Uber tiers are just too easy - expect some increased difficulty.
