Getting started in Trove, the basics covering: The Tutorial, The Hub, Adventure Worlds, The Map, Cornerstones and Dungeons.

The TutorialTop ^

As you get started in the tutorial world, turn around and look at the Barbershop to further customise your characters appearance.

Follow the path and defeat the first monster, then destroy the chest to claim your reward.

Hold down Hide Face to travel to the hub to finish the tutorial.

The Barbershop

As you enter the Tutorial World if you turn around you will see a Barbershop, here you can customise the head of your character.

Golden Thread

Displaying on the top-right of the screen is the Golden Thread, this is a line of objectives to get you started in the game. Each comes with rewards of Cubits you can use to unlock Classes or other items in the Trove Store.

 

Dungeon Objectives

As you get near a dungeon, on the top-right you will see an objective telling you what to do to complete the dungeon.

Combat

[Left-click] will use your primary attack, [Right-click] will use the secondary attack. As you level up you will unlock abilities available on the number keys.

If your health gets low you can press [Q] to use a healing flask.

Dungeon Rewards

When a dungeon is complete a reward chest appears, and will need to be destroyed for items to spawn on the ground. Drops are for each player only, so don't worry about other players.

A yellow Dungeon Complete Portal will appear nearby, you can press Where is it? when looking at it to leave the dungeon.

 

 

The HubTop ^

The hub is an instanced home area for players, in the area you can:

  • Customize your appearance at the Barbershop
  • Refill your flasks at the Rejuvenation Station
  • Donate items to the Community Chest
  • Trade with other players at the Trading Post
  • Change Class at the Class Changer
  • Spend Glim (gained through adventuring) to go Fishing or to craft a Boat.
  • Visit random Club Worlds
  • Claim a plot of land to build your Cornerstone
  • Start adventuring using Adventure World portals at the portal tower

Rejuvenation Station

Pressing Where is it? when targeting a Rejuvenation Station will heal your character and restore your Flask Charges.

Trading Post

Pressing Where is it? when targeting a Trading Post will open a trading window. Another play will have to do the same before they are visible on the Trading List. Once the other player is selected the trade window will show.

Class Changer

Pressing Where is it? when targeting a Class Changer will open the Class Change window. Select the class you witch to switch to.

Fishing

Visit Saltwater Sam in the hub and press Where is it? when targeting him. Spend Glim (which is gathered from adventuring) to purchase a Basic Fishing Pole and a Lure. Lures are consumable, when equiped go near water and press [F].

Cornerstone

Cornstone Plots can be found throughout Adventure Worlds and the Hub. Players can claim these by pressing Where is it? and build on them. Cornerstones can be moved by claiming another Cornerstone Plot. If you die while adventuring you can respawn at your Cornerstone.

Adventure World Portals

Adventure World Portals can be found in the Hub or Crafted.

Press Where is it? when targeting them to teleport into the Adventure World instance, some Adventure World Portals will have level requirements.



Adventure WorldsTop ^

Adventure worlds are instanced and can be generated in your server region. Here you can:

  • Mine Ores and collect Crafting Materials
  • Kill Npcs for XP and loot
  • Clear Lairs and Dungeons for XP and Loot

Adventure Worlds are level specific and you should choose the Adventure Portal that fits with your level:

  • Novice (1-3)
  • Adept (4-5)
  • Elite (6-7)
  • Master (8-9)
  • Uber (10)

Note: Uber 2-6 portals can be crafted and placed in Cornerstones or Club Worlds

The MapTop ^

Pressing M will open the map, from here you can see:

  • Your current location and the direction you are facing
  • Other players locations and names
  • The Biomes of the surrounding areas
  • The location of Dungeons, Recipe Dungeons and Large Dungeons
  • The completion status of the dungeons
  • Your cornerstone location

There is also a compass on the top of the screen to point you towards nearby lairs.

DungeonsTop ^

When you get near a dungeon, the objective will display on the top-right of the screen.

Completing the objective will finish the dungeon and spawn a reward chest, destroy the chest to spawn item rewards for you to pick up.

A Dungeon Exit Portal will appear in yellow and you can press Where is it? while looking at it to be teleported out of the dungeon.

Note: Recipe dungeons act as normal dungeons but instead of item rewards a recipe will drop, left click on the recipe in your inventory to unlock a random unlearned recipe for that particular biome.
