This time on our Club Leader Spotlight we talk to Nina, who is the leader of Alpha Legacy and as well as manages the Trove Club Quests Discord Server.

This interview with Nina was nominated by Arion.

What can you tell us about yourself and your club?

My name in real life is the same as my IGN: Nina. I'm of Japanese descent born and raised in Australia. My first language is English, I suck in Japanese but I am extremely fluent in Chinese. The answer to "how is that so?!" is another story on another day lol.

When it comes to gaming, I only play one game at a time. According to the email I've kept, I joined Trove on 23 October 2015, so that's almost 4 years of only playing Trove and nothing else... wow! xDD

I manage 2 clubs:

Alpha Legacy is currently top 1 in PR contest. Most of us are either end-game or near end-game players, with a very few exceptions (you know who you are! climb that ranking oi! yes you I'm watching your ranks! lol). We have an active speedrun community, and it was recently opened to everyone in Trove as long as they have met the speedrun requirements set in our club discord.

Alpha Legacy members are from all over the world, with the majority members having English as their second or even third language. I really admire our non-English speaking friends because despite their direct Google-translated English or very gramatically incorrect English, they made that extra effort to chat in our club discord and our club channel.

Legalize Sunlight Bulbs, on the other hand, has no PR/Mastery rank requirements, you only need to join the club discord to join the club. The club's message of the day reads: "We're all once plebs - remember that". I like that line a lot because it serves as a constant reminder to myself to stay grounded and to stay humble.

Where does your character name and club name come from?

My IGN was initially Ninah. I had to add that silent "h" because even after the name purge, "Nina" was already taken by someone else. Then one day Twixler (one of the former devs) surprised me with the greatest gift: she changed my character name to Nina, with no "h"! According to Twixler, the person who created the character "Nina" had never played a single day, that's why the dev team was able to make it happen for me. Thank you old dev team!

Alpha Legacy was initially called CSGods. In May 2018, during its birthday event celebrating it being 3 years old, each leader was given the task to come up with a list of words that he or she thinks is catchy. Uziel, the club's president, combined the 2 words he liked most (both words were from my list woohoo!) and thus the new name Alpha Legacy was created.

Legalize Sunlight Bulbs comes from an inside joke "legalize sunlight bulbs to general use / smoke bulbs everyday", a bunch of the founder's friends liked it, and thus the club was named.

What's your favourite part of Trove? What keeps you coming back?

My answer to both questions: people. They always fascinate me. People in Trove come from so many different countries, and I feel that there's always something I could learn from them, whether it's their culture, their way of thinking, their behaviour and etc. Even when people are describing themselves in detail doing mundane things, the fact that the person is saying that from another country, I find that interesting.

Not to mention the friends that I've made in Trove, I rely on them and trust them. They are beautiful, wonderful people! A shout-out to a few of my many lovely friends: Novuhz, Autoto, Uziel, SrFock, Vie, Avish233.

How did your club start out? and when did you start being responsible for it?

Uziel is the founder and president of Alpha Legacy. The club was founded in 2015 with a few people who shared the same passion in speedrunning. I only came into the picture in October 2017, by that time Alpha Legacy was already a large, very well-established speedrun end-game club. I was made officer the minute I joined the club, and a few weeks after that, I was promoted to be one of the leaders.

Legalize Sunlight Bulbs was handed to me by Kronberg, the founder, when he quit in late 2016 / early 2017 I can't remember correctly now. What I do remember was that I was left with 6 active members in the club. Today this club is in PR Rank Top 20, I guess I could say I've managed it well?

Have you managed clubs / guilds in other games?

Yes. In all the MMOs I've played, I've always been asked to run or help run the guild / club.

What motivate you to continue managing a community on Trove?

I don't really know what motivates me to continue managing. I'm honoured to be given the managing position, and I just feel that it's my duty do my job properly that's all. Natural sense of responsibility I guess.

Which other clubs would you like to highlight and why?

Vyra. Vyra has a very spectacular club world AND the president of Vyra, Vie, is French Canadian. Why did I point out that last bit? Because I personally find the French pronunciations romantic and beautiful, even their swear words sound romantic and beautiful ahahaha. I have learned a few French words due to the French members that Alpha Legacy and Vyra share. Unfortunately I cannot type those words out because they are all inappropriate words for any interview! lol

Jokes aside, Vie and I have many of views in common when it comes to club-managing aspect of the game. We have also been in the same speedrun team for YEARS (omg I feel so old for saying that), so the trust is there, the communication is there, the friendship is there. Definitely Vyra.

What is the most challenging thing about running a community on Trove?

You can't see people's facial expressions from typed words, therefore it's much easier online to misunderstand one another, much easier to spark up arguments over very silly little things. That's the most challenging thing to me when dealing with some people on Trove.

Are there any club members or particular builds in your club world you would like to highlight and why?

First of all I want to thank Arion a.k.a. Autumn. I was really taken by surprise when Etaew messaged me in discord telling me that Arion has suggested me to Trovesaurus for the club spotlight interview.

I think it's safe to say that with most clubs, current club spawn is usually the most noticeable area. At least this statement is true for both Alpha Legacy and Legalize Sunlight Bulbs.

I want to praise and thank Hikari36, the main architect of Legalize Sunlight Bulbs for helping out with our current club spawn, fixtures and trophy areas.

I'd like to thank all the officers and leaders of both clubs who were here before me: thank you for forming the foundation and paving the way. I would be lying if I said "it's been a smooth ride" xD but it's been a very interesting one so far.

Thank you Uziel. He's got my back, and he really meant it when he gave me the total freedom and told me "you can do whatever you want".

Thank you Autoto, also a leader of Alpha Legacy, for your constant support. Please allow me to say this in his main language: 謝謝你! 沒有你 我一個人是做不來的.

How do you like the current Club Building and Management tools and what would you like changed?

I wouldn't know what to say about the current club building tools because the last time I've built something was our current spawn for Legalize Sunlight Bulbs lol.

However! Club management tool: please fix it so it doesn't go back to the top of the member list every single time a member role is changed or when an inactive member is kicked.

How do you find the Club Adventures and Fixtures?

I'm sure I speak for many people for begging this: please, either make it possible for us to get the same quest repeatedly from the same club world without having to actually go back to that club world; or make the 5 gem box quests become something like "get 50 gem boxes" but with a relatively higher adventurine rewards. Our current Club Adventure system is extremely club-levelling unfriendly.

What advice would you give to people looking for a Club or thinking of starting a new Club?

If you're fairly new to Trove, just join any club. Each person gets 5 club slots, go and explore! Make friends first.

If you're starting a new club just for some building fun, then there's really nothing I could advice.

If you are thinking of starting a new club and you want to bring it all the way to Level 10, well... with our current club quest system I could only say: "may the force be with you!" ahahaha. You either need to prepare a lot of flux to buy clubit donations from players or you need to have a LOT of patience, or both.

Why did you start the Trove Club Quests discord and how that has improved your experience in the game

It started out in Lnfluence's club discord, where I would visit all clubs that have Repose Of Heroes Fixtures, and post the popular quests of all the repose clubs. Back then it wasn't so time-consuming because there were only about 35 clubs that have the repose fixture. I used to check all repose clubs 4 to 6 times daily. I had to, because you can't possibly know when an NPC has left if you're not a member of that club, so if you don't check that many times a day, the information wouldn't be accurate. Several clubs liked my posts, and soon I was being asked if they could copy the info I have provided, or they would ask me to post the same thing in their discord.

Very soon 35 repose clubs became 75 repose clubs. Now imagine going through 75 clubs 4 - 6 times a day. xDDD That's bascially the reason Trove Club Quests server was created - to save time and increase information accuracy. Instead of me going through every repose club there is in Trove, let the members of those clubs post for themselves, and problem solved, everybody is happy.

I still do check all repose clubs daily, sometimes there are a few lazy people who don't post their MF quests (that's a sin!), but I don't need to repeat the visit more than once a day anymore.

Fun fact: Trove currently has 158 active repose clubs.

Is there anything Trovesaurus can do more to help support your club?

Round of applause to Trovesaurus' incredible dedication in helping our Trove community with valuable information and much more!

I also want to thank Trovesaurus for giving me and my clubs our 15 minutes of fame! Thank you.
