Modding 101 Chapter 1: Guide Explanation & Folder Preparation

To streamline and update all modding guides for Trove, all available parts will be rewritten and split into multiple Chapters. This to done to ease the maintenance of guides and provide opportunity for multiple authors and/or transfer ownership.
This chapter will get you started on all preparations.
Welcome to a rewritten modding tutorial, updated with all updated tooling, especially made to streamline mod creation. Remember Trions acceptance of your mod is a bonus, not the goal!
Note: If pieces of former modding guides have been reused, the original author will be mentioned!
This guide will use several formatting to differentiate MUSTS from COULDS, because there are certain things that you must do, and things that you can do.
This is an example of an advice.
Preparation of folders
Locate your Trove Game folder (these are the standard locations), you can mod on Live and on PTS
if you are using steam:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Trove\Games\Trove\Live\
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Trove\Games\Trove\PTS\
if you are using glyph:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Glyph\Games\Trove\Live\
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Glyph\Games\Trove\PTS\
and create the following subfolders (if these are not present):
Advice: do not mod in ..\extracted\ but use my_documents or \qbexport\
Create a folder directory in my_documents or \qbexport\
To keep things clean you’re advised to create subfolders for each mod you make, for example:
Applications needed in the modding process are mentioned on the subpages in the complete guide, these pages are maintained by different authors and are therefore not mentioned here.
