The Public Test Server has been updated with a change that will affect how higher end players swap out their Standard and Empowered Gems. This change will reach the live servers on Tuesday, 16 August.

Unsocketing Gems on Live Servers

Re-Gemerator

The Re-Gemerator item is purchased from the Trove Store for 500 Cubits, a time gated currency available when completing the Star Bar and rewarded for Mastery and completing the Golden Thread quests.

It is used to Repair Cracked Gems.

Unsocketing Gems

Unsocketing Gems from a class currently costs Flux, the amount depends on type of gem and rarity.

Re-Gemerator

On the Public Test Server the Re-Gemerator item description has been updated to include the following description:
"remove a Socketed Gem"

It is our understanding that it will cost the following:

2 Re-Gemerators

for an Empowered Gem

1 Re-Gemerator

for a standard Gem

The change

Unsocketing Gems

Removing gems now requires Re-Gemerators instead of Flux. Overwriting and destroying gems remain free.

Why is this controversial?

Re-Gemerators are available for Cubits in the Trove Store, there is a limited amount of Cubits you can earn per day.

This is a cultural change for Trove Players who have previously been able to swap gems between classes at will, with only easily obtained and transferred Flux.

This is not a culture change this is a naked cash grab pushing players to pay for patron status to ensure that they can afford to equip their own gear. Sad display of wasted cubits, it's bad enough that RNG determines gems breaking, which forces you to discard an item you grinded for or pay, but now you pay after the tedious grind if you find something better. Petty and a bad change serves neither new or old players well cash grab.

Well, this sucks.
